Health Facts Of Zucchini

The zucchini is often times mistaken for a cucumber, but like a cucumber, a zucchini is actually a fruit, and is the ovary of the zucchini flower. Some people have tried them while others have never even heard of one. If its new to you, you are encouraged to try it as it is very tasty and can be grown in a hobby garden, or bought at a local grocery store.

Like many common vegetables, zucchini contains a good amount of Vitamin A, and has very few calories, which makes it possibly ideal for a lose weight diet plan, so long as it fits within the palette and allergen tolerance of the dieter. That's not to say that every one is allergic to zucchini, but you never know.

Zucchini also contains folate, which is very good for developing red blood cells, and manganese. It is a wonderful addition to any daily diet, because of strong health benefits, particularly helping with cholesterol.

Some people choose to peel zucchini, though this is really a shame as the skin also contains some levels of beta-carotene, which of course can be found in carrots as well.

Zucchini is very complimentery to other vegetables such as squash, cabbage, and parsnips, and is absolutely mouth watering when prepared on the grill. If you are a fan of stir fries, the above combination of ingredients can bring a lot of color and flavor to the dish, and for some "stir fry connoiseurs", zucchini is an absolute must.
